Happy Father's Day Dads!

Here's to all the dads in my life! First there's my own dad, who introduced me to some fabulous 70's rock bands. He may speak in a loud Germanic sounding voice sometimes, which both thrills and terrifies my children, but we love him still. Thanks for always being willing to play baseball with us, take us to the airport to watch the planes come in, and embarrass us in front of our friends with your strange dance moves. You are a wonderful dad and "regular grandpa", and someday soon Alayna will appreciate you, too. We love you, dad!


Oh, and there's also my brother, Brian, who will be a first time dad this September! His wife is due just before me, so that should be fun. Good luck, little bro! You are just weird enough to be lots of fun for your kid, yet you worry enough to annoy the heck out of her. That's a pretty solid parenting combo.

Then there's my father-in-law, Bob. He is one of the most unique individuals I've ever come in contact with, from his Elmer Fudd hat down to his high orthopedic socks . Fortunately for us, he is pretty handy with tools, and even drills up a mean mashed potato every Thanksgiving. Thanks for all the help with the basement and for feeding my children steel cut oats whenever they ask for them. Oh, and for not making me eat wheat mush. We love you!

Last but not least is my husband, Jason. He is such a great giant pumpking grower, sports watcher, frisbee thrower, and of course, dad to our kids. Isaac and Alayna absolutely adore their dad and even cry when he's not the one to take them out of their carseats. He is always ready to take the kids fishing, play catch, or just cuddle them while watching basketball. He does have a few, should we say, strange quirks that take some getting used to. For example, he actually enjoys sleeping outside during the winter in sub zero temperatures. He also has a thing for buying sleeping bags, thus we now own 7. He likes to manipulate people into doing stupid things for his own entertainment, like wearing colored shirts to church, drinking lots of water all at once, and going around the neighborhood asking for eggs to make omlets. He is definitely a kid at heart, which is probably what makes him such a good dad. Thanks for working so hard for our family and taking such good care of us all. We love you very much!
